This DeCal will also focus on the intersection of tech, law, and ethics within the YouTube communities. Students will be taught different marketing principles that coincide with each week’s lecture. These include how to create a value proposition, segmenting a target audience, conducting competitive analysis and more.

 

By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the impact YouTube has made in different industries. Students should also be able to use business principles taught in class to tackle a case at the end of the semester.

Lecture 1: Market Growth

This week, we will introduce the class, discuss objectives, and register students to the course. In addition, we will begin our first lecture that will cover YouTube's past and present and its market growth over the past decade.

Lecture 2: Brand Relevance

This week, we will go through the definition and importance of brand relevance. We will go through the 4 core principles to stay relevant as a company.

Lecture 3: Partnerships

This week, students will understand the importance of brand partnerships. Students will be able to differentiate between marketing and partner marketing by the end of the lecture.

Lecture 4: Entrepreneurship/
Intro to Economics

This week, students will understand the basics of economics and how entrepreneurs use these concepts to begin their companies.

Lecture 5: Algorithms in Marketing

This week, students will understand how algorithms play a critical role in marketing and how they have developed over the years.

Hi! I am a senior studying Business Administration and co-founded this DeCal in 2017. I'm involved with the student accelerator on campus (Launch) and a few dance teams. I am very excited to meet all of you!
